President Donald Trump has said that he is "not happy" with Russia after the country launched strikes on Kyiv in Ukraine, killing at least 10 people as well as injuring dozens more.
Trump posted on Truth Social, "I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Lets get the Peace Deal DONE!"
The post came in reaction to a barrage of missile and drone strikes that were carried out by the Kremlin on Thursday. There were at least 90 people injured, with many of them being children, Fox News reported.
This comes as the peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia have been strained, as the US has been working to broker a deal between the two countries. On Wednesday, Trump said that he believed that Russia is ready for a peace deal in the war with Ukraine and told reporters, “I think we have a deal with Russia," when he was asked about the peace negotiations.
On Easter, the president appeared hopeful to get a deal struck between Russia and Ukraine, and said that after a deal has been reached, the countries can "start to do big business with the United States of America."
Vice President JD Vance, as well as Secretary of State Marco Rubio, have talked about ceasing the US' role as a moderator between the two sides in negotiations.
"We've issued a very explicit proposal to both the Russians and Ukrainians, and it's time for them to either say yes or for the US to walk away from this process. We've engaged in an extraordinary amount of diplomacy, of on-the-ground work," Vance previously told reporters. Rubio has made similar statements, threatening to pause US involvement in the peace talks if no progress is made.
