Documents from the New Hampshire Department of Justice refer to Reya Jasmin as a woman.

New Hampshire woman Margaret Jasmin was stabbed to death on May 18 and her partner, Reya Jasmin, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Jasmin is a male who identifies as transgender who was found at the scene by police and was also injured.

A child was also at Plaistow, NH home, and was uninjured and has been removed. The child is believed to be 9 years old and the son of the Margaret and Reya Jasmin. Reya Jasmin, formerly David Mark Jasmin, began the gender change process in 2017, starting hormones in 2018. Margaret also started to transition after her husband did.

Documents from the New Hampshire Department of Justice refer to Reya Jasmin as a woman, saying "an arrest warrant was issued for Reya Jasmin charging her with one count of Second-Degree Murder." Reya Jasmin has been accused of having recklessly caused the death of wife Margaret.

Many news outlets, from NBC Boston, Hoodline, WGME 13, News 7, Derry News, and others called Reya Jasmin a woman, despite the murder being an instance of a male partner allegedly killing his wife. The Maine Wire noted that the original press release from the NH DOJ correctly identified Reya Jasmin as a man before adjusting their language to reflect Jasmin's preferred pronouns and gender identity. The Maine Wire reported that the murder was an "apparent murder-suicide attempt."

Margaret, posting under Magsalicious, shared an image of a Pride flag with the words "f*ck around and find out."

Reya Jasmin had "headlined the local library's 'Ask a Transgender Woman Anything' event" at the Plaistow Public Library. The event description read, "I'd like to have an open conversation about my experience and hope it helps build greater understanding in our community and society in general." At the time of that event, the Jasmin's child was 3 years old.

The suspect had a very small TikTok channel featuring weightlifting videos on which the phrase "my gender is best described as lifting with acrylics," referring to acrylic fingernails. The TikTok page shows they/she pronouns, while on LinkedIn Reya Jasmin, a software engineer focused on "making transportation more equitable," used she/her.

The two were wed as man and wife and attended events in cosplay where each was dressed in traditional male and female attire. At the baptism of their child in a Catholic church, both were dressed normally.

Reya Jasmin sought support online after beginning transition when it turned out that Margaret was not in favor of the major adjustment. A post from Reya Jasmin under the username explosive_donut in response to concern over Margaret's disapproval read, "Her husband is dead and she hates the person who replaced him. Even though I still present as male nearly 100% of the time. And I'm still the same me. A better version of me, I'd like to think."

"I have a good support network beyond her," Jasmin went on to say. "People who love and support me and want to help me become the real me." Another follow-up post criticised Margaret, saying "she's always called herself an intersectional feminist. But I guess when the rubber meets the road, she is transphobic."

Jasmin posted on Reddit about coming out as polyamorous and bringing Margaret into that lifestyle by introducing another woman into their marriage. Additional Reddit posts show photos of Jasmin's physical transition, with enlarged breasts and a vaginoplasty. These images garner praise from others.

Jasmin's Bluesky profile reads: "Trans woman, polyam, happily married with an amazing kiddo. she/her/ BLM, ACAB." Nine months ago, Jasmin posted "After quite a challenge few weeks, I'm going to a dungeon tonight and getting my ass kicked. Gonna be fun as fuck. No dynamic play, just pain."
