“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert said President Donald Trump has sent the American economy “down the golden toilet” as his tariffs cause stocks to sink and prices to rise.
And that’s had some unexpected consequences.
“According to a new study, nearly two in three Americans think frugality is an attractive trait,” Colbert said, adding that a majority now think it’s OK to use coupons on a date.
“Coupons are hot y’all,” Colbert said. “And if you’re feeling freaky, maybe a Groupon.”
Colbert said 28% of the people in the study even called frugality “sexy.”
“Americans don’t just like deals,” he said. “They are horny for deals.”
He tested out some pickup lines for this new era.
“Hey sweet thing, are you an old sofa sitting on a curb? ’Cuz I wanna take you home and spray you down with Lysol,” he said. “Girl, are you French fries from the table next to mine? Because once they leave, I wanna put you in my mouth.”
