NEW: Elon Musk slams 'pork-filled' budget bill after departing DOGE

"This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination."

Tesla founder Elon Musk slammed the "One Big, Beautiful Bill" that the president as well as many Republicans have been supporting over the last several weeks after he left his position at DOGE this past week.

Musk wrote on X, "I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it."

The bill, which has been championed by the president as legislation to get a number of his agenda items through as well as to keep the 2017 tax cuts, also increases the debt ceiling by $5 trillion, which has drawn concern by a few Republicans, such as Senator Rand Paul (R-KY).

Musk came into the Trump administration with the idea of cutting wasteful spending through the Department of Government Efficiency and recently left his temporary position with the agency. The work is carrying on with others.

The bill passed through the House with a tight margin, as Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) as well as Warren Davidson (R-OH) were the only two Republicans to vote against. The bill has gone to the Senate, however, there have been multiple GOP senators who have expressed disappointment with the amount of spending that is in the initial copy of the bill. All Democrats voted against it at the time, and the bill passed the House 215 to 214 at the time.

Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) previously said of the bill, “I want to get a deal done; I support the president’s agenda. I support the border, I support the military, I support extending the Trump tax cuts — but we have to live in reality. But we got to live in reality here: We got a fiscal crisis. You saw the Japanese bond market is in trouble. You saw the American bond market is in trouble. Inflation is not coming down; interest is not coming down. That means we’ve got to balance the budget."

The Senate GOP can only afford to have three Republican senators peel off if the bill goes to a floor vote.
