Naomi Biden Blasts Jake Tapper Over Book On Grandfather: It's 'Political Fairy Smut!'

Naomi Biden, Joe Biden’s eldest granddaughter, slammed CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson on Monday over their upcoming book accusing the White House of a “cover-up” of the former president’s reported health decline.

“Just read a copy of this silly book, and if anyone is curious for a review from someone who lived it first-hand: this book is political fairy smut for the permanent, professional chattering class,” wrote Naomi Biden in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

“The ones who rarely enter the arena, but profit from the spectacle of those that do. Put simply, it amounts to a bunch of unoriginal, uninspired lies written by irresponsible self promoting journalists out to make a quick buck.”

Naomi Biden further accused Tapper and Thompson of leaning on anonymous sources to push a “self-serving false narrative that absolves them of any responsibility for our current national nightmare,” a nod to President Donald Trump’s second term.

Her criticism comes one day after her grandfather’s office shared that the former president had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, news arriving just prior to the release of Tapper and Thompson’s book “Original Sin” on Tuesday.

The book, which was teased months before Biden’s cancer announcement, is tied to questions about the former president’s physical and cognitive abilities leading up to — and following — his disastrous June 2024 debate performance against Trump.

Tapper has previously responded to critics who have accused him of being a key media figure in helping conceal Biden’s health decline from the public, slamming “false attacks” against him and standing by the reporting in his book.

Naomi Biden’s post quoted an excerpt from an article by writer Noah Berlatsky, who said that Tapper and Thompson want to “be the center of the conversation because it will help them sell books.”

“But with daily assaults on our constitution by the current inhabitant of the WH, the rest of us have, or should have, more important things to focus on,” wrote Berlatsky in an article for Public Notice, journalist Aaron Rupar’s Substack.

Naomi Biden, while continuing to defend her grandfather on X, wrote, “All of this at the expense of a man so completely good and honest that it is impossible for these people to ever understand the why or how of it all. There are real stories to be told and one day they will be. I suspect history will reward the truth.”
