Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) drew fierce blowback on Sunday over his social media post about 22-year-old Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg.
Graham shared a news article about Thunberg’s presence on a flotilla that is headed to Gaza and whose occupants want to deliver humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, amid the monthslong, starvation-inducing Israeli blockade.
“Hope Greta and her friends can swim!” the top ally of President Donald Trump, who is a staunch supporter of Israel, wrote on X, the Elon Musk-owned platform formerly called Twitter.
Critics condemned Graham as a “shitty person” for the post.
“In a good country, this kind of tweet would be disqualifying for public office,” said one.
Asked another: “Are you aware that you are a sitting US Senator??”
A sitting United States Senator threatening a convoy full of nonviolent activists - including Greta Thunberg - with a bombing.
It’s difficult to describe how sociopathic, unhinged, and criminal some of the pro-Israel folks have become. https://t.co/SBVbmFtp1E

Americans are on that boat, but support for genocide is so normal in US politics that a Senator can joke about it being attacked and face no consequences. https://t.co/dBI8l9JnPQ
