Actor Jonathan Joss, best known as the voice of John Redcorn in the animated show King of the Hill, was killed after a fatal shooting in San Antonio, Texas. Joss was 59-years-old.
Per the Hollywood Reporter, police were called to a San Antonio home on Dorsey Drive at around 7 pm in response to a shooting. A police report obtained by the outlet stated, "Once the officers arrived at the location, the victim was found near the roadway of the location. The officers attempted life-saving measures until EMS arrived. EMS pronounced the victim deceased."
56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja was taken into custody and booked on a murder charge.
Joss had reportedly gotten into an argument with a neighbor, TMZ reported, based on the San Antonio Police Department and eyewitnesses, during which the neighbor pulled out a gun and shot several bullets at Joss. Ceja was reportedly captured a block from the residence.
Along with King of the Hill, Joss played Chief Ken Hotate in Parks and Recreation as well as roles in True Grit, Tulsa King, and The Magnificent Seven. Joss has also served as a voice actor for multiple popular video games, including Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption.
Joss’s death comes as a King of the Hill reboot is set to debut on Hulu on August 4, after the show came to an end in 2009 following 13 seasons. A 40-second opening was released by Hulu, showing changes that the show’s main characters have gone through since viewers last saw them.
