Hur audio reveals Biden's memory lapses, halting speech patterns

Audio of the interview between former President Joe Biden and special counsel Robert Hur has been released and reveals that Biden had difficulty answering questions and had poor memory recall. The audio, with uncomfortable pauses in Biden's answers, appear to validate Hur's assertion that if he went to trial, the jury would have viewed the former president as a "sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory."

Audio of the interview was published by Axios, which sheds more light on the former president's mental capabilities at the time of the interview and during his presidency. The interviews were conducted in October 2023 over Biden allegedly mishandling classified documents.

Hur decided not to prosecute Biden over the case, in which the classified documents from his tenure in the Senate and as Vice President were found scattered in his offices and in some of the boxes in his garage by his Corvette.

The revelation from the audio comes as Democrats and mainstream media pundits have been attempting to come to grips with Biden's legacy as well as respond to reports from Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson's new book "Original Sin," which details the extent to which the White House went to cover for Biden's decline. 

When Biden was still in the Whtie House, the administration refused to release the audio of the interview after the transcripts from Hur's questioning were made public.

Part of the interview, which was recorded on the transcript as "OK, yeah. In 2017, Beau had passed and — this is personal — the genesis of the book and the title Promise Me, Dad, was a — I know you're all close with your sons and daughters, but Beau was like my right arm and Hunt was my left."

But in reality, that passage sounded like the following, which the sound of a grandfather clock going "Tick. Tock" in the background:

"Okay, yeah … in 2017,"

"... Beau had passed and …"

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Tick.

"... this is personal …"

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Tick.

"... the genesis … "
