For more than two weeks, Oregon anti-ICE activists have occupied the area outside the ICE facility in Portland, setting up tent encampments equipped with riot gear and other supplies. Many individuals involved in the occupation are affiliated with the anarchist extremist group Antifa, whose members have been clashing with federal police officers on a near-nightly basis to protest the Trump administration's mass deportation operations.
Undercover video captured by The Post Millennial on Monday shows unmasked Antifa militants regrouping roughly one block away from the ICE facility after local authorities swept their illicit tent encampment overnight Sunday. Shortly after, individuals can be observed arriving with new supplies, allowing the group to continue the ongoing occupation.
In order to ensure that the area is occupied 24/7, the anti-ICE demonstrators work in shifts. There are roughly 20 to 50 black clad individuals on the ground at any given moment, and the number of protesters increases when similar-minded leftwing activist groups collaborate for demonstrations, which have resulted in police declaring riots.
During the day, masked protesters can be observed meandering around the ICE facility, holding signs with phrases such as "F*ck ICE" and hurling abusive language at federal police officers.
The Department of Homeland Security's Federal Protective Services (FPS) officers have bolstered their presence and are now visible at the ICE facility at all hours of the day, as a result of the ongoing acts of violence and other criminal behavior that intensify after nightfall.
The crowds grow larger at night, particularly during the weekend when fewer people are working. Antifa affiliated agitators clad in riot gear continuously form human blockades on the driveway to the ICE facility in order to prevent vehicles from entering and exiting. Clashes break out after demonstrators refuse lawful orders to disperse, prompting federal police officers to deploy less lethal crowd control munitions to clear the driveway.
Additionally, more than 20 arrests have been made during the ongoing occupation for a variety of offenses, including assaulting federal police officers, blinding officers with high-powered lasers, attempting to trap federal agents inside the facility after igniting fires, and disobeying lawful demands. The majority of protesters have been criminally charged by the Department of Justice, with some of them facing up to 20 years in prison.
As a result of the ongoing violent demonstrations, BORTAC agents have been deployed to assist FPS in guarding the facility. BORTAC is a special elite tactical team part of US Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
The prolonged Antifa occupation, which is being organized on social media under the Instagram account "ICE out of Portland," has caused problems for community members, particularly elderly residents who are reportedly having difficulty sleeping due to the commotion at night, according to a local resident who disclosed the matter to The Post Millennial on Saturday during an interview outside of the facility.
"There are old people who are trying to sleep, and they are on social security. The protesting is great, but people are trying to sleep. It's 11 o'clock," the local resident said. "They're having a bit of a harder time. They're complaining, and no one can do anything. At what point does this become a now nuisance than what you originally stood for?"
Since Portland is a self-designated sanctuary city, local police officers are prohibited from assisting federal authorities with immigration enforcement efforts. However, Portland police officers have increased patrols outside the ICE facility to respond to any related criminal matters that occur on city property.
The Portland ICE facility has been a historic target for the leftist extremist group throughout the years, beginning with Trump's first term in office. In April 2021, black bloc Antifa militants set fire to the building to protest border security policies, leaving officers trapped inside. On Inauguration Day, January 21, 2025, Antifa militants set fires and vandalized the property.
