"My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed but we know he is in good hands, and our family is good because God is very good! We will see him again!"

Phil Robertson from the reality show Duck Dynasty, has passed away at the age of 79, his family confirmed Sunday.

His death comes months after the family publicly revealed he was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. The announcement was made in December during an episode of the Unashamed with the Robertson Family podcast. At that time, his son Jase Robertson described the condition as being in the “early stages.”

Jase later explained that the illness was progressing quickly. “He’s just not doing well. He’s really struggling,” he said. “It’s causing problems with his entire body,” per NBC4.

The family announced Robertson’s death through a series of social media posts on May 25.

"My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed but we know he is in good hands, and our family is good because God is very good! We will see him again!" Jase Robertson posted in a X post.

A joint post from Willie Robertson and his wife Korie read: "We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord."

"Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life," the message continued. "We know so many of you love him and have been impacted by his life. We’re having a private service for now, but we’ll share details soon about a public celebration of his life."
