A dispute over a restroom at a local taco restaurant in St. Clair Shores outside of Detroit turned violent Saturday night, leaving the owner bruised, shaken, and wondering how things escalated so quickly.

The attack happened at Amigos Tacos on Greater Mack, where the owner was assaulted by a DoorDash driver and another man, reports Fox 2 Detroit.

"All over it was like huge, big bruises, big bumps," he said. "It was really bad all over my head, (that's where they were) hitting me the most, and my back, because I was on the floor just trying to save myself."

The situation began when the DoorDash driver tried to use the men’s restroom, which was still under construction and not connected to plumbing or water. The owner explained that the bathroom wasn’t usable, but the driver used it anyway. Frustrated, the owner refused to give the man the food order he came to pick up.

In response, the driver threw the food on the floor and stormed out. Not long after, he returned with another person. "He heard that I was calling 911 - he got so upset he started beating me up - punching me in the face," the owner said. As they left, the men also shattered one of the restaurant’s windows.

St. Clair Shores police have arrested the DoorDash driver and say they’ve identified the second suspect.

While the owner is recovering physically, the emotional impact remains. "I don’t know what to say about that - confused, you know?" he said. "Because I don’t want any problems, but I don’t know how to stop him."
