Donald Trump apparently isn’t ready to address criticism from former so-called “first buddy” Elon Musk.
Well, not in public at least.
On Wednesday, a reporter asked the president for his response to Musk telling CBS he was disappointed that the Trump-backed, “one big, beautiful bill” would increase the budget deficit and undermine the work of his unofficial Department of Government Efficiency, which aimed to slash public spending.
Trump responded:
“Well, the reaction is a lot of things. No. 1, we have to get a lot of votes. We need to get a lot of support. And we have a lot of support. We had to get it through the House. We have no Democrats. If it’s up to the Democrats….”
Trump waffled on, without mentioning Musk or his criticism.
And people on social media noticed.
Reporter: “Elon Musk in a television interview criticized the ‘One Big, Beautiful Bill'…What's your reaction to that?”

Musk, the world’s richest person, announced later Wednesday that his “scheduled time as a Special Government Employee” was over.
The House has passed the bill, and it’s now being debated in the Senate, where it faces some opposition from GOP lawmakers.
