"REPUBLICANS MUST DEFUND AND TOTALLY DISASSOCIATE THEMSELVES FROM NPR & PBS, THE RADICAL LEFT 'MONSTERS' THAT SO BADLY HURT OUR COUNTRY!"

President Donald Trump has said that he wants Republican lawmakers to defund as well as "disassociate" themselves with the government funded media programs NPR as well as PBS.

Trump posted to Truth Social, "REPUBLICANS MUST DEFUND AND TOTALLY DISASSOCIATE THEMSELVES FROM NPR & PBS, THE RADICAL LEFT 'MONSTERS' THAT SO BADLY HURT OUR COUNTRY!"

The post from Trump comes after a congressional hearing last week examined the spending and as well as bias of the news outlets. House members grilled both NPR president Katherine Maher as well as PBS head Paula Kerger.

An exchange between Maher as well as Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) made headlines, where Gill questioned the NPR about her past posts on social media as well as left-wing bias at the government funded news organization.

At one point, the congressman asked Maher if she had ever said that white people should pay reparations to black Americans, and Maher said, “I have never said that, sir.”

Gill, proving her wrong, cited one of her tweets from 2020, in which Maher wrote, “Yes, the North, yes all of us, yes America. Yes, our original collective sin and unpaid debt. Yes, reparations. Yes, on this day.”

Gill also questioned why NPR had promoted the book called “In Defense of Looting,” to which she said that she was unaware that the book defending the stealing of property had been promoted at the news station.

Many Republicans have previously called for defunding NPR as well as PBS, saying that the outlet, if they are biased to the left, should not be receiving taxpayer funds. Trump has previously said that he would "love to" defund the news organizations.
