Former President Joe Biden said he has started treatment for prostate cancer and struck an optimistic tone about his recovery.
“The prognosis is good,” Biden told reporters during an event on Friday at his home in Delaware. “We’re working on everything. It’s moving along, and I feel good. All the folks are very optimistic.”
Earlier this month, the 82-year-old former president was diagnosed with prostate cancer that had metastasized to the bone, which Biden’s office said “represents a more aggressive form of the disease.”
But in his chat with reporters at his home, Biden said he felt confident that he’ll survive the cancer.
“It’s all a matter of taking a pill, one particular pill for the next six weeks, and then another one,” Biden said. “The expectation is we’re going to be able to beat this. There’s no — it’s not in any organ, my bones are strong, it hadn’t penetrated.”
He added that he’s working with one of “the leading surgeons in the world.”
Biden was spotted last week at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. Asked how he was doing, he told a reporter he was “feeling great.”
Immediately following Biden’s diagnosis, President Donald Trump posted on social media to say that “we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”

However, on Monday, Trump shared a Truth Social post from a user that said: “They stole the 2020 election and hijacked the country using a decrepit corpse as a frontman,” referring to Biden.
