Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have faced a 500% increase in assaults as they have been trying to conduct deportation enforcement operations throughout the country.
According to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) data obtained by Breitbart, the rapid increase in assaults has taken place as the Trump administration has been attempting to conduct mass deportations across the country.
“Today, the Department of Homeland Security released new data revealing that ICE law enforcement is now facing a 500% increase in assaults while carrying out enforcement operations,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told the outlet.
The spokeswoman pointed to recent events, including the arrest of a convicted child sex offender, Roberto Carlos Munoz, who also entered the US illegally. The convict dragged an ICE agent 50 yards with his car while attempting to evade being arrested.
“Just this week, an ICE officer was dragged 50 yards by a car while arresting an illegal alien sex offender. Every day the men and women of ICE put their lives on the line to protect and defend the lives of American citizens," McLaughlin added.
McLaughlin added that Democrats have been stoking the flames with their rhetoric on the issue. “Make no mistake, Democrat politicians like Hakeem Jeffries, Mayor Wu of Boston, Governor Tim Walz, and Mayor Bass of Los Angeles are contributing to the surge in assaults of our ICE officers through their repeated vilification and demonization of ICE," she added.
Boston, Massachusetts Mayor Michelle Wu as well as Minnesota Governor Tim Walz have both compared ICE to the Nazis, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries threatened to dox ICE agents.
“Every single ICE agent who is engaged in this aggressive overreach and are trying to hide their identities from the American people will be unsuccessful in doing that … every single one of them, no matter what it takes, no matter how long it takes will of course be identified,” Jeffries stated recently.
Along with the assault on ICE agents, there has been an accompanying slew of anti-ICE protests, many of which have turned into riots across the country in recent weeks, including in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Portland.
