Alex Soros called out for condemning antisemitic DC murders after funding pro-Palestinian groups

“Your family supported this financially. You are evil incarnate and a traitor to your people and this country.”

Far-left billionaire Democratic donor Alex Soros, heir to George Soros’ vast fortune and the controversial Open Society Foundations (OSF), is under fire for what many are calling a performative condemnation of the recent killing of two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington, D.C.—despite his foundation’s long history of funding radical anti-Israel organizations.

In a post on X, Soros called the murders “evil in its most basic form” and decried the attack as “a brutal antisemitic act [that] must be condemned in the strongest terms.” But critics were quick to point out what they see as glaring hypocrisy. Through OSF, Soros has funneled millions into organizations that smear Israel, support movements like BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions), and promote narratives that undermine the Jewish state’s right to exist.

The victims, Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky—Israeli diplomats who were engaged to be married—were gunned down outside the Capital Jewish Museum. The alleged shooter, Elias Rodriguez, was caught on video shouting “Free, free Palestine!” after being taken into custody. According to police, Rodriguez approached a group of four people from behind, opened fire, emptied clips into the 2 victims, and then walked into the museum, where he was detained by security.

The reaction to Soros' statement was swift and scathing. Many on social media called out his double standard. Conservative commentator Dr. Sheila Nazarian wrote, “Your family supported this financially. You are evil incarnate and a traitor to your people and this country.”

Eitan Fischberger added, “Alex Soros funds the revolutionary Marxist group the shooter belonged to.”

Political activist Kimberly Klacik simply asked, “Really, Alex?”

The backlash highlights a longstanding concern among conservatives and pro-Israel advocates: that the Soros empire is actively funding and enabling groups that demonize Israel, embolden antisemitism, and erode Western democratic values under the guise of human rights and social justice.

In 2023, Israel’s Minister of Diaspora Affairs Amichai Chikli bluntly stated that the younger Soros is “a replica of his father,” referring to George Soros’ well-documented support for anti-Israel initiatives. “We have no expectation that his son will be a big Zionist,” Chikli told Fox News.

Chikli criticized OSF’s funding of Human Rights Watch, which has falsely accused Israel of being an apartheid state, as well as J Street, an organization that claims to be pro-Israel but has repeatedly sided with Iran and the Palestinian Authority. OSF has also poured money into smaller Palestinian organizations within Israel that label the country a colonial power and seek to strip it of its Jewish identity, such as the NGO Adalah, which calls for the transformation of Israel into a binational state.

George Soros himself has been condemned by Israeli officials for pumping over $15 million into networks of NGOs that provide political cover for Hamas and advance anti-Israel propaganda. “George Soros’ donations to organizations that seek the destruction of the State of Israel as a Jewish state is shameful,” said Israeli Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan. “They have never been about real peace or any solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”
